I have limited Internet connection in Italy which is not conducive for online learning. I will have to also check if there are weekly deadlines that will affect course grading.
- Think Again: How to Reason and Argue (by Duke University, and starts on August 25)
- Data Analysis and Statistical Inference (by Duke University, and starts on September 1)
- The Data Scientist's Toolbox (by Johns Hopkins University, and starts on September 1)
The Think Again and Data Analysis courses are part of the "Reasoning, Data Analysis and Writing" Specialization which I intend to take. To earn the Specialization Certificate, I will need to complete the Signature Track for all three courses (more information in the earlier link) and the Capstone project. The specialization costs $196 ($49 per course).
The Data Scientist's Toolbox course; however, is part of the "Data Science" Specialization which I would like to take as well. To earn the Specialization Certificate, I will need to complete the Signature Track for all nine courses and the Capstone project. The total cost for this one is $490 (also $49 for each course and for the Capstone).
I could, of course, take each course for free and obtain a certificate of achievement, but I would like to step up the learning game a little bit but going through the Capstone as well. I will pay for the Signature Track as I go along instead of paying for the whole specialization in one lump sum. If I opt for the free courses, I will not get the verified specialization certificate.
I earned my first free Coursera certificate Nutrition and Physical Activity for Health by University of Pittsburgh about a year ago, so it is now time again to do something!
Have you tried Coursera? If yes, what are your thoughts? Do share your experience!
