HAPPY NEW YEAR! Penang City Walk 2014

While everyone's possibly still in bed (in my time zone, at least it was...) I climbed out of bed when my alarm went off at 5 AM. I wasn't groggy (yay!) and by 6 AM after feeding my cat and myself, I was out of the house to wait for the bus. By 7:15 AM, I arrived at the Queen Victoria Memorial Clock, the assembly place. Soon the place filled up and it was said that there were 7,000 participants!

Here's a recap from this morning's awesome event. What a great way to celebrate the FIRST DAY of a new year! From the pictures below, you will notice that we were blessed with wonderful weather and the sun didn't bother me one bit.

I wish all of you A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Oh hey... this is me! I'm one of the early birds. Teeheee... This was a fun run so it's not competitive. Nobody needs to run over anybody to get to the finishing line.

After walking for a bit, I arrived at the FIRST spot: TOWN HALL. I've got my passport stamped!

And so there were four more spots to go. I made it to the SECOND spot: GODDESS OF MERCY TEMPLE. By now, I was already feeling quite awesome. I eagerly got my passport stamped again. HURRAH! Time to move on.

I couldn't resist sharing this picture because LOVE LANE and MUNTRI STREET are two of my favorite streets in Penang. Continuing on...

Here it is, the THIRD spot: MASJID MELAYU LEBUH ACHEH, a mosque! *stamp stamp*

When I passed by this gigantic cat mural, I had to take a picture and dedicate it to my cat, Trio. So my girl, this is for YOU!

Even this little guy joined in! The 5 KM fun walk (again, it's not competitive) was participated by the young, the old, and their pets. So far I only saw this hyper little fur-kid.

After a loooooong walk, I finally reached the FOURTH spot: SRI MAHARIAMMAN TEMPLE. What this meant was the final spot's just around the corner.

FIFTH and FINAL spot: PINANG PERANAKAN MANSION. The final stamp was planted on my passport.

I made it! The 5KM-walk was finished 7 minutes BEFORE 10 AM. TAMAT. END.

Although it was not important to finish according to time (10 AM), I'm a sucker for meeting goals so unless there's a good reason I can't, I will ensure I make it. By the time I was done, I was famished and since the Pinang Peranakan Mansion is just opposite my favorite kopitiam (Eng Loh), I quickly made my way there and binged on char kuey teow and kopi peng.

2014: A great start to a great year! Once again, HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
