Just because it's not what you were expecting, doesn't mean it's not everything you've been waiting for.
This quote struck me hard when I first saw it. My thoughts immediately settled upon Italy and I realized how much I am missing it. Five days have gone by after I came home from il bel paese (the beautiful country), and I am still obsessed about it. I love that country! I am in love with Italy.
Italy is not what I expected it to be. But that is not true anymore. At first, I thought I didn't want it when I was there. The people are cold (just like the weather now), but then not everyone's like that. Some were really nice and I was greatly touched by them. Everything else was spectacular—the art, the food, the architecture—including the grafitti that "dresses" the walls (and metros) of the Eternal City, Rome. What I love most, though, is the language. It is—to me—the most beautiful sound in the world. I pray for Italy, her economy recovery and political situation befitting a beautiful country that it is.
So a year ago I fell in love, and this year for four weeks I fulfilled my dream of "living" in Italy. Now, I am hopeful in the very near future I will live, work and play there. It will be one mammoth challenge, this goal. However, if I can dream it, I can do it.
