Alice Reads: The Word "Library" (Italian: Biblioteca)

Yesterday, I learned the Italian version of one of my favorite words: biblioteca (library).

Italian: Sto studiando in biblioteca.
English: I am studying at the library.

Italian: Si possono prendere in prestito libri, CD e DVD dalla biblioteca.
English: You can borrow books, CDs, and DVDs from the library.

For me now that I am based in Penang, BORDERS is a wonderful substitute of a great biblioteca because in Malaysia, it's really hard to find one that is good and well-stocked with the latest titles. Also, bookstores are great places to research, to get ideas, or simply to sniff the wonderful smell of new books.

There is only one BORDERS bookstore in Penang, so I will usually spend my Saturdays at the Queensbay Mall either studying my own books at the BORDERS' Starbucks or pick a book from the shelf. I can park myself there for hours with a nice caffè Americano and a banana choc chip muffin. (Yes, free reading is allowed!)
