I was at Borders today spending time with books on the shelves, going through (scanning) them methodically until I reached a table with this little book on it. One look at the title and the cover of The Traveler, I picked it up and started reading it. It took me less than five minutes to finish the 48-page book, but what a message it carries! It is a fable that will resonate with readers of all ages. I enjoyed the illustrations, but the most important thing about the book is the message of what is really important in our lives. You cannot "save time" until you find the "perfect moment" to spend it. The little boy who packs his green suitcase (with years, days, hours, minutes, and seconds) and starts his journey around the world looking for that perfect moment, discovers a very important truth at the end after decades of searching.

The book didn't come home with me, but I've certainly been thinking about its message.
