Some Initial Ramblings About R.I.P. V

Confession time. I'm doing terribly bad at the R.I.P. V challenge. I just couldn't keep up with the two (TWO!) books I've selected for this challenge. One of them is Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I'm now at page 157 of this disturbing novel. I like it.

Well, while I think I may not be able to finish both books allocated for this challenge, I'm striving to complete at least this one.

I'm getting to know Oskar and Eli, and other characters in the book too. Oskar is a twelve-year-old boy (or, thirteen) who gets bullied and beaten by his schoolmates. Eli is a girl that looks his age but is, in fact, a 200-year-old vampire. Hakan who lives with Eli loves and obsesses about her, and would do anything for his Eli. He's being mistaken by Oskar as her dad. Oskar and Eli live next door to each other. Oskar falls in love with Eli too (it's interesting to read that kids their age falling in love with each other; well, technically, Eli is not a kid). There are quite a bit gore going on in this story and some adult elements. I will continue to work at it and turn the pages bit by bit, and hopefully finish it by end of this month.

If you're a participant, I hope you're enjoying your R.I.P. experience too!
