Mailbox Monday: It's All About Music (AND, a US$25 gift certificate from Amazon/Barnes & Noble)

I decided to play Mailbox Monday this week, which in September is hosted by one of my favorite bloggers, Bermudaonion's Weblog. It was my birthday on Saturday so I went to Borders and splurged on two music-related books.

This is what I got for myself

In All You Have to Do Is Listen (ISBN: 9780470385449), Rob Kapilow gives readers a set of tools they can use when listening to any piece of music in order to hear its "plot"--its story told in notes. How cool is that? After going through the table of contents, I was sold.

The other book, The Soloist (ISBN: 9780425226001), a biography by Steve Lopez caught my attention too. From the book blurb: When Steve Lopez sees Nathaniel Ayers playing his heart out on a two-string violin on Los Angeles' Skid Row, he envisions this "Violin Man" as the topic of his next column for the Los Angeles Time--only to unearth an even more extraordinary story about the mysterious street musician. I also want to catch the movie.

What is in your Mailbox Monday?

And now, for the GIVEAWAY! There are two parts to this:

Part 1
Do you want to win an Amazon/B&N gift certificate worth US$25? All you have to do is comment on the blog post—very important note here—AT Peony’s Pleasure Cafe on the day I host Kele Moon. The author of Beyond Eden is giving out the gift certificate to a randomly selected commenter. The only twist to the giveaway is that Peony must be the host in the virtual tour with the highest number of comments!

So help me qualify as the highest, and you will automatically get a chance to win the gift certificate. Kele will do the drawing to determine the winner. Really simple.

In summary:
  1. The virtual tour date: September 29, 2010 (US time)
  2. The venue: Peony’s Pleasure Cafe (PPC)
  3. What I need to be: The host with the highest comments
  4. What you need to do: Leave a comment (no duplicates, please); help spread the word to make me THE HOST so that you can win.
Part 2
Oh, and that is not all. I have a personal bonus for you too: I will give Beyond Eden to one lucky winner. Because it is an e-book, you will get it immediately if you are the winner. Once your name is drawn I will place an order for you. You will be entered for this regardless of whether I am the host with the highest comments or not. I will randomly draw the winner on Friday, October 8.

What do you say? Please mark your calendars and see you at PPC on September 29!
