I am taking a day off from work on 12th October to attend the book talk and meet with author Joan Hon. Such bookish events are rare in my part of the world, so when Jo Lau contacted me about the author, I was excited! Jo and I are complete strangers but the Internet had brought us together in July this year. She is a Singaporean living in Penang with her husband. Jo told me she found me through my blog (thank you, Jo!) and I'm really glad!
Here's the scoop on the bookish event: Penang-Born Singaporean author, Joan Hon, will be in Penang to talk about her fiction and non-fiction books on Tuesday, 12th October at 2:30 p.m. The event will be held at Precious Ones Collections at 56, Lorong Selamat, 10400 Penang (Telephone: +604 229 7678). Ms Hon will be sharing her experiences and journey as an author from writing to publishing.
She wrote a science-fiction romance Star Sapphire (1985) under a pseudonym Han May, which won a High Commendation Award from the Book Development Council of Singapore in 1986, the same year she was awarded a Commendation prize for her book Relatively Speaking on her father and childhood memories in Penang.
