Gambit

Three American planes have been shot out of the sky and the reason was unknown. Dr. Cameron Talbot, a world-famous expert in missile-defense systems, is ordered by the White House to develop a defense against the mystery weapon. I enjoyed Gambit and liked it, but I will not say I loved it. It is a political thriller with some romantic suspense thrown in, but in that respect, I found Suzanne Brockmann’s The Troubleshooters series to be a lot more engaging. The author, a former deputy press secretary and senior director of the National Security Council, has firsthand White House experience and it shows in her novel.

Note: This is a 100-word book review.

  1. I don't really like political thrillers, I struggle to get into them. It all goes over my head too much.

  4. I'm not big on political thrillers either, so I count on you to point me to the really, really good ones. I'll probably pass on this one, but I like the idea that it was written by a Washington insider.

  5. I do kind of like political thrillers, but I'm not a huge fan of romance, so I'd probably feel the same way you did.

  6. Sorry you didn't enjoy it more. It is too bad that the fact that the author was a Washington insider didn't add more credibility to the novel.

  9. Hi everybody! I do like political thrillers (which is one of the reasons I bought this book), but somehow it didn't really wow me. I like the story, but I didn't love it. I would still like to give the author another try, though. :)
