A Pictorial Update: Volunteering at New Life Care Center, a children's home

Last year in October, I visited the children at New Life Care Centre, a registered children's home with the Government Welfare Department and with the Registrar of Society. The centre is now known as Pertubuhan Kebajikan Kanak-Kanak Yatim dan Miskin Wawasan Port Dickson. It is founded in February 2007 by Pastor Paul Jegathesan and his wife Pastor Katherine.

As mentioned in my previous post, I was volunteering as a photographer for the Centre's fund raising effort and Sean brought along workbooks published by his company, generously donated by Penerbit Pan Earth. My friends from Singapore--Lenny (my older "evil twin") and Sumin, together with their Malaysian friends, Adam and Cindy Alisha--also came to show their support. They taught the children using the donated books.

This post is way overdue since October and it has been at the back of my mind ever since. The children, aged between 2 and 14 years old, are very friendly and joyful. I remember how they were so enthusiastic and were asking for their photos to be taken. They're even more elated when they saw how cool they looked in camera. I had so much fun helping out! Here are more shots of the event on that day and there are even more uploaded on my Facebook.

The children praying and worshiping. I tried to be as a discreet as possible when taking their pictures because I do not want to interrupt the moment.

This little guy was eating his biscuits (see the crumbs on his lips) when he came over to me while I was pointing my camera around in the garden. He looked up at me with an expression of what are you doing? and I just had to take this shot before I tried explaining to him that I was making pictures.

I just had to do this. I asked the children if they like reading and they answered with a very enthusiastic YES! So I asked if they would like to show me how much they love their books, and this was what they did for me. *GRIN*
I love her dreamy expression...
Thinking about food, I supposed. It's lunchtime.
The wait was over. The children lined up to get their meals.
Here's their lunch of the day

There are many more photos on Facebook so please be sure to visit the children there. Thank you, Pastor Paul Jegathesan and wife, for having us at the Centre! Thank you, Lenny and friends, for coming to help! And thank you all for reading this post!
