Mailbox Monday (AND, my Kindle is coming soon!)

Mailbox Monday is hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page. Last week was an exciting week for me because I received a book for review, bought a couple more books to add on to my already overflowing TBR (YAY!), and author Karen E. Olson of the new Tattoo Shop Mysteries told me that her second book in the series, Pretty in Pink, is on its way to me--I'm participating again in another one of her wonderful blog tours. Thank you, Karen! Now, let's see what I've got for my Mailbox Monday...

I would like to thank Lisa Roe of Online Publicist for sending me a copy of Talk to Me Like I'm Someone You Love: Relationship Repair in a Flash by Nancy Dreyfus, Psy.D. I am looking forward to reading this because communication is so vital in a loving relationship, but is often lacking. I have briefly scanned through the elegantly packaged spiral-bound book and is impressed with its content that is aimed to defuse tension and put an end to conflict. I want to spend time with this book and study it.

Talk to Me Like I'm Someone You Love. We've all been there. A conversation with a loved one has turned combative. Angry and abusive words are flying through the air. Enter Talk to Me Like I'm Someone You Love, a brilliant interactive relationship tool that can help couples stop arguing and begin healing.

Talk to Me Like I'm Someone You Love
features more than one hundred of Dreyfus's "flashcards for real life"--written statements that hold the power to express what we wish we could say to the person we love but for which we can't find either the right words or the right tone in which to say it. Each statement is accompanied by "field notes" from the author that explain when, why, and how to use the statement as well as real-life stories, from her practice, of couples who found it helped restore healthy communication.

Twenties Girl: A Novel. Lara Lington has always had an overactive imagination, but suddenly that imagination seems to be in overdrive. Normal professional twenty-something young women don't get visited by ghosts. Or do they? When the spirit of Lara's great-aunt Sadie mysteriously appears, she has one request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie's possession for more than seventy-five years, and Sadie cannot rest without it.

Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie's necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different "twenties" girls learn some surprising truths from and about each other.

My Kindle will be coming home to me soon!

Guess what? My Kindle has arrived at my friend's friend's place in New York, after which, he will be bringing it back to me when he returns to Southeast Asia. He came up with this crazy idea that I buy it (I've been coveting a Kindle ever since it's first being sold), and then have it sent to his friend's place in the US, and then brings it back for me when he comes back. I'm so looking forward to my Kindle! I've been window shopping for books and have my Kindle wish list set up. Hurrah!

Updated @ 6.52 AM: I know the delivery method of my Kindle has raised some questions (LOL!), so I'm going to tell you why it was shipped to my friend in the US instead of directly to me. Although Amazon ships Kindle internationally now, Southeast Asia has yet to be included. However, my friend in Indonesia who is also an ex-colleague bought it and has no problem using it there. It took me so long to finally decide getting Kindle because realistically, it wasn't possible in the beginning due to logistical issue.
