Christmas 2009 at Cameron Highlands

Christmas 2009 was spent up in Cameron Highlands. On the morning of December 25, we traveled in three cars to make the trip. We stayed at the Equatorial Cameron Highlands once again but due to the size of our group, we booked a three-room apartment.

Everything was good except for the condition of the apartment--the sofa (if you could even call it a sofa) was broken, the bed had strands of hair on it, the balcony was so small we can't do our steamboat magic there unlike in our previous trip during Mother's Day--but having said all of that, we had a wonderful time together. That, to me, is the most important of all. *GRIN*

I did not take many photos during the trip because I was feeling unwell but instead, Daryl Chang (my brother's friend who uses Canon) and KC (Cat's boyfriend who played with my Nikon) did most of the shutterbug activity. Here's what I did take during the trip.

Most of the photos here were taken at the Tea & Scones Tea Shop on the way up to Brinchang.A family having a photo session in the tea plantation. I was up at there at the tea shop and zoomed in to this family who were having fun.
Our yummy dessert. It's really nice to enjoy tea in the cool weather.
Hiro the furkid wants some nom nom too...
This is Rose
These two, my friends, are my crazy sister Cat and her monkey boy
My brother John (left) and his friend Daryl
Daryl is another shutterbug in the house
Cat sticks herself into the pic of Mom and Vivian
Michael and Sean
And down we go to the plantation and here are two "spies" poking out of the tea leaves
Eeeeks! I think I'm lost! Where am I?... (This is me, by the way)
Tea leaves close-up
KC the monkey boy doing his jump thingy to launch himself downhill
Last but not least, the steamboat cookout. It's too bad that we can't do it outside so we improvised and did it inside. It was pretty fun! All of us had to eat on the floor.
The smell from the grill was heavenly...

Hi Jen! The place is about 2 hours drive from where I live. It's a nice place though I can't say the same for the hotel or apartment...

Hi Darlyn! I love holidaying with family. Thank goodness my sister brought along the picnic mats. She brought all the party stuff from Sydney. I hope you get to go for a holiday with your family soon. :D

I get excited when I see you've posted pictures. What a beautiful place! It looks like you had a ball, and made the best of a not perfect situation with the rental (ewww, hair in the bed?).

What a fun way to spend the holiday! I'm with Sandy - the hair in the bed sounds too gross.

Alice ...for some reason the picture taken in what looks like a maze freaked me out a bit and reminded me of the movie The Shining based on the Stephen King novel. Have you seen the movie?

Seriously though, I bet it was a wonderful tome. You all look so happy and the food looks yummy too.

Thank you ALL! I'm glad you liked the photos! It's true that the apartment was terrible but the great company really made up for it. The cool air on the highlands was great too. I'm also feeling much better already. Thanks again!

Book Talk

"Books give us pleasure not because they make us comfortable, though some good ones may, but because they entertain us, they make us laugh, they make us cry; they inform, persuade, disturb, convince, seduce us; they make us think, speculate, see - and we recognize what we see as true, not as the truth but as a truth in the writer's fabulous construction that corresponds to what we have observed in ourselves, or others, or in the world at large, or can conceive of observing."
