KISSATEN @ Jaya One with friends

PS is back in town for the long weekend and today, together with Irene, Eileen, and Eunis, we met up to catch up with each other. We went to KISSATEN (meaning "cafe" in Japanese), a nice restaurant that serves all sorts of food and beverages ranging from Japanese to local yummies such a kuey teow soup and teh tarik. It's always wonderful catching up with the girls!

Chit-chat
Irene caught me taking photo
Me taking a sip of the delicious bitter gourd and cucumber drink (it's actually not mine but Irene's, but she said it's best to document the proof that I did consume some bitter gourd today)
Eunis's Katsu Don
My Pepper Teriyaki Wings
And Tamago Sandwich (also mine)
Irene's Katsu Sandwich
Azuki Pumpkin Zenzai for dessert

What I liked about the restaurant: I like the ambiance and the bright, mostly white interior. The menu is beautiful!

What I disliked about the restaurant: I came out of the restaurant smelling like food. I think the ventilation is not good.

Okay, I shouldn't be hungry after yesterday's huge Thanksgiving holiday meal, but you've made me think of eating! Looks like a fun day.

Girls lunches are so fun! The food pictures made me hungry and after Thanksgiving here in the States yesterday I shouldn't be!

How fun! The food looks delicious. That's too bad about the ventilation though.

Isn't it wonderful to get together with friends? OK, I know I go on and on about your photographic abilities, but I think you could apply to be a food photographer too. Those pix look professional. The food looks fabulous!

Hei how are you! =D HAhaha I remember coming here so I had to leave a comment. Food was really good and the ambiance was awesome. Nice restaurant! I had the lam mee thing.

Hi Beth and Kathleen! I hope you had a nice Thanksgiving meal. It was indeed fun catching up with the girls.

Hey Naida, the food was OK. :)

Hi Barbara, I enjoyed my egg sandwich. They're good...

Hi Wendy! I think this problem is the same for most Japanese restaurants. They have this "smell" about them...

Awwwwww Sandy... you're always so nice to me!

Hey Stanley! I'm fine and I hope you are too. Enjoy your upcoming break! I'm glad you share the same thoughts about the restaurant. If I go there again, I'll try their local fare. =)

I was going to say that the Tamago Sandwich looks good and did I want to know what was in it. Egg sandwich sounds safe. I am not an adventurous eater ;-)

So glad you were able to get together with friends and I love the pics. I'm asking for a camera for Christmas but I just want a little throw in your purse kind.

I love those food photos, but they've made me hungry.

Hi Book Dragon! I'm not an adventurous eater either. I like egg and that sandwich looked and tasted good to me. LOL!

Hi Carol! Food photos make me hungry too. :)

Tamago sandwich sounds yummy! Looks yummy too. I've never had it as a sandwich. Is the pumpkin dessert some kind of custard? I've never heard of this either and it also looks very good!

Alice Teh said...

Thanks, Terri! The pumpkin dessert tasted quite good. It's soupy...

Book Talk

"Books give us pleasure not because they make us comfortable, though some good ones may, but because they entertain us, they make us laugh, they make us cry; they inform, persuade, disturb, convince, seduce us; they make us think, speculate, see - and we recognize what we see as true, not as the truth but as a truth in the writer's fabulous construction that corresponds to what we have observed in ourselves, or others, or in the world at large, or can conceive of observing."
