Friday Firsts: She'll Take It

Here's the rules of the meme:
  • Grab the book you are currently reading and open to the first page.
  • Write down the first sentence in the first paragraph.
  • Create a blog post with this information. (Make sure to include the title & author of the book you are using. Even an ISBN helps!)
  • Did this first sentence help draw you into the story? Why or why not?

First sentence: Before I steal, I pray.

That's a short and sweet first sentence. It definitely helped draw me into the story and I discovered that the protagonist is a kleptomaniac (someone with an irrational urge to steal in the absence of an economic motive). And it's funny how she always pray to the made-up saints of this and that to help her sail through her predicaments. It's funny and witty and totally cute. The cover I posted here is not the one I'm holding now but since I like this one better, I go with it.
