Judas (Jude) Coyne, an aging death-metal rock god, buys a ghost and a package arrives containing the dead man’s suit inside a black heart-shaped box. The ghost is real and is hell-bent on ensuring that Jude dies and pays back for what happened to his deceased ex-girlfriend (the ghost’s stepdaughter). Jude refuses to go down so easily. Together with his very young new girlfriend Georgia, they fight to their last breath. I admire their tenacity (I might have given up). The characters are so believable—a great first novel by Joe Hill. This scary thriller has indeed spooked me!
