It's so, so hard to decide what books to read for this challenge! Ah yes,.. I've decided to participate in the R.I.P. IV challenge, one that I would not dream of missing out. Well, you should sign up, too, especially if you love stories in the following genres: mystery, suspense, thriller, dark fantasy, Gothic, horror, supernatural. Do sign up here at Carl V's.

The challenge runs from September 1 through October 31. There are several levels to choose from and I chose PERIL THE SECOND. For this level, I only need to finish TWO BOOKS from the mentioned genres. But having said that, I picked out seven full-length novels to form the reading pool:
  1. Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill
  2. Adam by Ted Dekker Replaced by 20th Century Ghosts by Joe Hill
  3. The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson
  4. Isolation by Travis Thrasher
  5. All the Pretty Girls by J.T. Ellison
  6. Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane
  7. The Ninth Circle by Alex Bell

Now, why did I pick out seven books? "Peril the Second" will be my main challenge and if I'm up to it, I'd like to complete them all from "Peril the Third" (1 book), then on to "Peril the Second" (2 books) and all the way through to "Peril the First" (4 books). I know I am being very, very ambitious here. Add them all up, I would have read 7 books...
