Mailbox Monday (and lunch at Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks)

Mailbox Monday is hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page.

I know I've mentioned about managing my TBR pile in last week's Booking Through Thursday but I've just gotten my Borders Pass and it would be "wrong" if I did not go book shopping. So here you go, the following books came into my house last week:

Bought on Saturday, July18 @ Borders, Tropicana City

I've finished reading The Book of a Thousand Days by Shannon Hale and I loved it! It's a retelling of the fairy tale "Maiden Maleen," as recorded by the Grimm brothers. The setting is inspired in part by medieval Mongolia.

I've been eyeing Emily Giffin's Love the One You're With for some time so when the mass paperback edition came out, I grabbed it. I've also gotten a bargain for Jeffery Deaver's The Broken Window and The Bone Collector, both Lincoln Rhyme thrillers (MYR32.90 for 2 books before 15% discount).

Bought on Sunday, July19 @ Borders, The Curve
I've been hunting high and low for Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire and for some reason, most bookstores did not keep stock of the title. When I saw it at Borders with its "3 for 2" promotion, I grabbed all the three vampire books.

I am waiting in anticipation for my copy of Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr to arrive from the post. Did I tell you that I've won that from Vivienne's book giveaway at her blog Serendipity? I'm so excited! I bought the other two books in the series, Ink Exchange and Fragile Eternity.

I've also read reviews and recommendations from many of my trusted book blogger friends that I decided to strike them off my wish list and transfer them to my TBR: Ironside, Tithe, Valiant, all by Holly Black; The Society of S by Susan Hubbard, and Lavinia by Ursula K. Le Guin.

I quite enjoyed peeling off the Borders price stickers from the back of the books. I've only developed this habit yesterday...

My mom and two sisters, Rose and Catherine, accompanied me shopping on Saturday. We had lunch at Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks at Tropicana City Mall (Address: Lot LG37, 3, Jalan SS 20/27, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selangor Darul Ehsan, MALAYSIA). It's always fun going shopping with my family!

Handmade Oyster Mee Sua
Crispy Floss Egg Crepe
XXL Crispy Chicken

What I liked about the outlet:
  • The food is OK (I did enjoy the egg crepe) and if you like fried stuff, you'd enjoy dining there
  • Friendly staff
What I disliked about the outlet:
  • The XXL crispy chicken was not exactly crispy and heavily coated with flour. The chicken meat was quite hard and that made it difficult to chew.
  • I became very thirsty after the meal
  • You'd be smelling like fried foodstuff after dining there
My conclusion: I do not think I'd return to dine there...
