About two weeks ago, I did a survey to find out about the problems readers faced when visiting my blog. I've been plagued by the "Operation aborted" IE error and didn't know what to do. The temporary measure is to use Mozilla Firefox (or Safari, or Google Chrome) to browse, but that would mean a lot of my readers who are using IE might skip my blog all together.
The poll result shows that 31% faced the IE "Operation aborted" error (13 out of 41 respondents). 48% said there's no problem, but still, there were 52% that had faced problems--not good.
I have done some minor tweaking to my sidebar and so far things tested OK. I hope it stays this way.
If you still face problem of any sorts with my blog, please drop me a comment here. If everything is fine, do drop me a note too. Thank you!

Good luck! Hope it stays solved!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks fine to me.
ReplyDeleteI use Firefox and I have always gotten something at the top of your blog saying "Additional plug-ins are required to play all the media on this page," but I have never installed them. I can see the posts fine, which is what I came for.
It seems OK - it hasn't done it for a few weeks now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Heather! Thanks, Viv! I hope so too! I'm commenting from IE today and I supposed it's OK (and stays OK). :)
ReplyDeleteHi Barbara, that's great! I have this problem to thank for because it "forces" me to use Firefox--and you know what--I love it! It made me try out other browsers and they're much more stable than IE. Firefox's great. As for the plug-in, I think it's got to do with the streaming presentation slides in one of my posts about the PA conference. Thanks for your feedback.
The last few times I visited, I still received that "Operation Aborted" sign and everytime I've to refresh it so I can view or comment. It looks ok to me now. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, never had the problem.
ReplyDeleteHi Alice, I think I might have figured out why your blog takes so much time to open at work.
ReplyDeleteIs there a quicktime plug in from Apple on your blog? I guess, at work all plugins are blocked so it takes that much extra time to disable the plugin or something like that.
Glad your IE problems are sorted at least :)
P.S: I'm at home sick, so I can now comment on your blog, whenever I want to instead of waiting to get home and forgetting about it :)
People have been having trouble loading my blog lately now, too. It sucks! I get a nice new makeover and lose readers!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear it's fixed, Alice! Blogger problems can be so frustrating.
ReplyDeleteHi Melody! I'm glad it works fine now. Thanks for continuing to visit me even when there's problem. I faced the same problem with a few other blogspot blogs too, but when I use Firefox to view them, they work just fine.
ReplyDeleteHi Stanley, glad to know it works well for you.
Hi Violet! I think the plug-in has got to do with the slides in one of my posts for the ABF conference. I'm sorry to hear that you're not well. I hope you're feeling better now.
Hi Kailana! I share the same sentiments about losing readers. It really sucks. I hope your problem will be resolved soon too. Alternatively, encourage your readers to use other browsers, which seem to work just fine and fast too.
Hi Nymeth! I'm with you. I'm contemplating to switch to Wordpress. Am still thinking about it.
I hope it is all straightened out, Alice. I was one of the ones who didn't have a problem, but I imagine it was frustrating to those who did.
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy, I'm glad to know that you do not have any problem with the blog/browser. I'm really worried that it'll affect the readers who come to visit.
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear this got straightened out. I've been getting this message with my own blog at home where I use Windows Vista and IE (haven't had this problem at work w/ older Windows and older IE versions). I switched to Firefox and that seems to have "fixed" the problem but I wish I could figure out why it gives this message with IE.
ReplyDeleteHi Terri! I wish I could figure it out too. Apparently, the problem is still lurking whenever I try to comment on individual posts. I guess the problem hasn't entirely disappear. Arrrrgh...
