Singapore Book Fair 2009

Guess what? It's really my lucky day because... a book sale is going on at the Singapore Book Fair 2009 at Suntec City!

But before I go on about the book fair, let's meet another good friend of mine and a former colleague from Singapore, Lennard Chan (or Lenny). We went for a short tour around Arts House at the Old Parliament House, and then proceeded to the Kangxi Emperor Exhibition at the Asian Civilization Museum (ACM). It offers visitors a rare glimpse into the Forbidden City. I gained free access into the exhibition, thanks to him and his museum pass from the National Heritage Board. Thanks, Lenny!

Another thank-you must be extended to Mr Alfred Lye who was the chairperson at The Asia Business Forum 8th Annual Executive Secretaries and Personal Assistants Conference. He brought the exhibition to my attention and I must say I enjoyed it very much. Thank, Alfred!

Lenny and me at the Kangxi Emperor exhibition at the Asia Civilization Museum. More about this coming soon!

The Singapore Book Fair 2009: And now, here comes the book fair! I had dinner with Mr and Mrs Anon and our plan after that was to go to Esplanade, but decided to pop by the Singapore Book Fair at Suntec City for a look-see first. Mr Anon is a booklover and I enjoy looking at his bookshelf. Mrs Anon is not that into books so she targeted fashion instead. Here are the details (admission is free):

The event: Singapore Book Fair (SBF)
Where: Level 4, Hall 402-404
When: 29 May 2009, from 2 PM to 10 PM;
30 May to 7 June 2009, from 11 AM to 10 PM

Mr Anon and "Hello, my name is Alice" went book shopping...
@ Suntec City
The book fair
The book fair will be back next year from 28 May to 6 June 2010!
The books I bought at the book fair (my little boy is looking at them curiously)
The titles that I bought are:
  • Feel Good, Look Good with Jacelyn by Jacelyn Tay
  • Nation by Terry Pratchett
  • Marion Zimmer Bradley's Ravens of Avalon by Diana L. Paxson
  • The Ice Queen: A Novel by Alice Hoffman
  • Now Is the Time to Open Your Heart by Alice Walker
  • A Reading Diary: A Passionate Reader's Reflections on a Year of Books by Alberto Manguel
  • Sula by Toni Morrison
I am really happy with my purchases because I found books by authors such as Terry Pratchett (Nation), which is part of my "999 Challenge". It's a real bargain because I got it for just S$7.90 (~US$5)! My total book purchases come to about S$51 (~US$34) for 7 books.

At the Esplanade with Loovee (Japan) and Comic Strip (Singapore): After our shopping, we had some fun at the Esplanade with a Japanese band Loovee supported by Singapore’s Comic Strip, a 7 piece band.

Energetic performance! More coming up soon!

That's all for now for my fourth day of the trip. More detailed posts are coming your way very, very soon.
