To all booklovers and avid readers:
HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY!

HAPPY WORLD BOOK DAY!
(I like the above bright and colourful poster from UNESCO)
23 April is a symbolic date for world literature for on this date and in the same year of 1616, Cervantes, Shakespeare and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega all died. It is also the date of birth or death of other prominent authors such as Maurice Druon, K.Laxness, Vladimir Nabokov, Josep Pla and Manuel Mejía Vallejo. It was a natural choice for UNESCO's General Conference to pay a world-wide tribute to books and authors on this date, encouraging everyone, and in particular young people, to discover the pleasure of reading and gain a renewed respect for the irreplaceable contributions of those who have furthered the social and cultural progress of humanity. Map to PWTC, Kuala LumpurFloorplan of the book fair
I would like to visit the Kuala Lumpur International Book Fair (KLIBF) at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) this weekend. This would be my FIRST time visiting it even though it has been around for 28 years. The book fair runs from 17 to 26 April 2009. Have YOU visited the book fair or planned to?

Coming up next is the MPH Distributors Warehouse Sale from 28 April to 3 May. It is opened from 9 AM to 7 PM located at Bangunan TH, No. 5 Jalan Bersatu, Section 13/4, 46200 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. I'm not sure if I'd be going for this one, though.
Here are some of my recent warehouse raids:
- 14 March 2009: MPH Stock Clearance Sale at Taman Mayang: The Report
- 26 October 2008: See what I bought at the MPH Warehouse Sale
- 25 October 2008: Mission 'MPH Warehouse Sale' Completed
*SCREAMS* I want more money to go to these fairs!!! But my book ban is more serious than yours, Alice, because my money needs to be spent on academic books only - for the moment. SOBS :(
ReplyDeleteWe don't have any book fairs over here. I really wish we did. I tend to just trawl the charity shops to get my bargains.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could go to the book fairs but both of my hand are handcuffed with my kids school's activities..
ReplyDeleteBook fair!! But why on this month? I am broke this month, spent 1k repairing my car which my mom drove up the wall. Sigh... maybe i'll go, maybe not. I need some new books and inspirations anyway. You need a hitch, Flo?
ReplyDeleteHa ha ... forget the book ban and lets go book shopping together!
ReplyDeleteHi Flo Flo! Don't scream, don't scream... Hi Cmate! Hey, why don't we do this? Shall we get together--you, Cmate and Yours Truly? We can go to the book fair just to look-see, look-see and then go yamcha. What say you? I don't plan on spending money also...
ReplyDeleteHi Viv! I thrawl charity shops too but mostly on the Internet and my favourite used book e-store is BetterWorld.com.
Hi Azah, that's all right. Enjoy the time with your kids. :D
Hello Natasha! Well... we'll see about the book ban... LOL. Hey, if you're going to the book fair, please let me know ya. Maybe we could meet up, if you want. :D
Look see sounds good. Let me know when. Is this a pre-Mini Bites day or post? LOL
