"G'morning! I arrived @ Port Klang on Royal Caribbean Cruise. Takes 1 hr to KL. I've only 10am-2pm. Where can I meet you for tea or lunch? :) Cheers, Lennard"
That was the SMS I received this morning from my friend in Singapore who is also a former colleague (and my older 'evil twin'--both our birthdays are on September 25). After breakfast with mom, Cat and I were already on our way to the zoo for our planned photoshoot. And then we saw the message from Lenny and decided to meet up with him instead. How often do we get a good friend like Lenny coming to Malaysia, right? *GRIN* It was great timing because I am on leave and he's here. Perfect.
Cat and I met up with Lenny at Dome, KLCC
1) The Good Fairies of New York by Martin Millar
2) Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides
3) The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger
4) I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb
5) DragonForge by James Maxey
After our meeting with Lenny, Cat and I went to Starbucks to get our coffee fix.
Have a great cruise, Lenny! Hope to see you again soon!
P/S: Cat and I didn't visit the zoo after that but instead packed three packets of chicken rice for lunch (including Rose's lunch). Us three girls had lunch together at home...
nice planner! i'll go check starbucks here if they have the same planner. I read wally lamb's this much is true, it is nice. enjoy reading!
ReplyDeleteSounds like everyone had a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteThe pancake looks delicious, and the coffee seems great to me too! ;P Oh, so you've bought some books too! Happy reading!
that wally lamb's is a good book. have you read his she's come undone?
ReplyDeleteI wanted to get the Starbucks Coffee's planner today, but I was in a hurry, didn't get it! I must get one for myself tomorrow! :)
ReplyDeletehow was Dome's pancake? i tried paddington's and it was only so so.
ReplyDeleteiluvgreen, thanks! I hope you'll manage to get the planner. I'm making it my reading journal for 2009. *GRIN* I hope to get into the book I Know This Much Is True very soon.
ReplyDeleteHi Melody! It was a surprise visit by Lenny and totally enjoyable one. I do miss him and so glad to see him again.
Hi miaomiao, I haven't read She's Come Undone. I hope to do so one day. I've heard so many good things about it. :D
Hi Wing, I hope you'll manage to get the planner/journal. To buy it, you need to buy their coffee as well... See you tomorrow!
Hey Wai Seng, I think the pancake was pretty good. I like it. :D
ur evil twin doesnt look like u at all...prolly cause his ur alter ego? hahaha...anyways it seems that u have created a fad 4 d Starbucks organiser...i oso want 1!!! :P
ReplyDeleteYou and Wing can go together-gether tomorrow. Heheee...
ReplyDeleteWe're unidentical twins! We share the same birthday... how cool is that? :D
Glad you enjoyed a wonderful get together with your friend. I like how that pancake is served.
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you got your Starbucks planner already. I don't think I can complete all the stickers to avail of one but that's OK.
Ooooh, that is a yummy pancake. And that book pile? The top 3 are 3 of my all-time favourite books!
ReplyDeleteOoh sounds like you had a good day!
ReplyDeletethe Catcher in the Rye is a good book... I have read that when I was in college...
ReplyDeleteAwwww that so nice of Lennard to stop by and visit you on your/his birthday to celebrate. You guy sure look adorable as evil untwin teehehe. Tell Lennard I say hi the next time you chat with him...that is if he remember who I am LOL
ReplyDeleteHave a good birthday! Oh and the pancakes, the coffee...delicious!
Happy happy day for u Alice-chan

awesomeness cool che... :D
ReplyDeletebtw hows d planner? issit good enough 4 u 2 plan ur year ahead? :D
Hi Rachel! Looking at the pancake once again makes me hungry... I didn't know that in Philippines, you could get the Starbucks planners by collecting stickers.
ReplyDeleteYAY you, Nymeth! I had a good laugh and lots of LOL moments reading The Good Fairies of New York. Too funny! I read the first few pages of Middlesex and was hooked. I'm seriously thinking about replacing the books on my "2008 TBR challenge" with some of my latest acquisitions...
I did, Jen, I did! LOL
Sheng, I'd love to read Catcher in the Rye ASAP. It's great that you've read it in college. :)
Oh Julia, Lenny has the best memory (for a guy). So I'm sure he'd remember you. And he's just about the sweetest, most helpful person you'd know. I know I'm lucky. Hehee... I like the word you used: untwin. LOL.
Irene-chan, yes I have. He's a good friend of mine since my first job in KL. Although he's in Singapore, it sure does not feel that he's far away.
Hi Ray, I'll be using the planner more as my reading journal than anything else. So ya, I'd be planning what to read. *GRIN*
That's a nice planner! Yes, we get those for free in Manila after filling up a sticker book. Since you only get one sticker for each purchase, you'll need to drink a LOT of coffee before getting your hands on a planner. That's a lot of caffeine! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd prefer just buying it, but I'm not sure if that's possible around here...
eii.. so nice planner.. I want also.. why i never see that in starbucks pavilion??? How much it cost?? Anyway I just bought 5 books yesterday. Can't resist the super cheap books. Faster go 1u MPH. They have this mini book fair thing. RM9 for one book!!! CHEAP-nya!!!!
ReplyDeleteHello Garando! I wonder how many stickers the customer needs to collect in order to redeem the planner... For us, we only need to buy a coffee to be entitled to buy one planner.
ReplyDeleteHi Taira! Nice planner leh... go buy, quick! LOL. As mentioned in reply to Garando, the planner can be bought at RM18 but you must also buy their coffee. AND Yay to you! You bought 5 books! *high five* Alamak, you tempt me with 1U MPH book fair thingy... I just received a box with 20 books in it from Acmamall. And I just bought 4 from Kinokuniya yesterday and received another 5 from them via mail. That's 29 books and I think er... I shall stop buying for the time being (IF I can help it...) Thanks anyway! *GRIN*
arghhhh!!! You got the planner!! ahahaha... nice nice...
ReplyDeletei've gotten myself a maybank etiqa planner.. LOL =D the starbucks one nice!! Hehehe...
Pancake.. hrmmm~ not a fan but looks yummy... must really learn to love desserts liao.. LOL =D
btw, the calendar u got me, bila boleh dapat?? LOL
Hi Andrew! Yes, I've got myself the planner! Hehehee... Hey, a Maybank Etiqa planner is also good. :D I'm not a big fan of sweet stuff. Preferred more stuff like karipap and other savoury goodies. But I like cakes though, especially coffee and cheese cakes.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could email me your mailing address and I send you the calendar? What say you? :)
Hello Alice! Starbucks have lovely planners indeed. The one you featured here is similar to the one the Philippines had for 2008, at least the leather cover and the color of the paper. The prints are different though.
ReplyDeleteHere we have to drink at least 24 cups of coffee (Starbucks rolls out the sticker album November) to get the free planner. Other enterprising Filipinos drink as much coffee as possible and then sell their planners online. Oh well.
Lovely, lovely stash of books. Lovely photos as well. Makes me want to eat pancakes like, now!
Hello Mayette! So good to see you here. WHOA... 24 cups of coffee to get stickers for the planner... Thank goodness here in Malaysia we can just buy them for a cup of coffee. Thanks for the information! :)
ReplyDeleteLol... i doubt you can resist.. haha.. we're the same type.. but u r even more extreme from me.. Anyway just bought the planner.. I'm loving it.. hehe..
ReplyDeleteAwwww Taira, you know me so well. {{HUGS}}
ReplyDeleteNo lar... I'm not so extreme yet...
Love your books! Happy reading! :D
