Three Bookish Stuff: Bookworm Award/Meme, Book Blogger Christmas Swap, AND Romance Reading Challenge

(Phew!...) That has got to be the longest title I've done so far...

First, I thank Melody for presenting me with this Bookworm Award/Meme! Boy, I love book-related memes...

RULES:
Open the closest book to you, not your favorite or most intellectual book, but the book closest to you at the moment, to page 56. Write out the fifth sentence, as well as two to five sentences following.

FROM: THE ALMOST MOON by Alice Sebold

I smelled the lilac scent of her hair through the sheets. I felt my eyes watering but would not blink. Down two, three, four, five. Her bundled feet thumping their arrival. My mother’s cocoon was unravelling.
And finally, I tag the following five people to pass on the award: Naida, Cmate, Gautami, Jen aka LadyTink and YOU (please feel free to play along)!

I've also signed up for the Book Bloggers Christmas Swap and I'm very excited about it. This is the first time I am participating. I have received an email informing me who my person is so I'm all set out to get her (yes, the recipient is a girl!) a pressie. I'm also very curious to know who my Secret Santa is... For more updates about this, please visit Nymeth of Things Mean A Lot!

It is more blessed to give than to receive!

Last but not least, I'm participating in the Romance Reading Challenge 2009 hosted by Naida from The Bookworm. I simply can't resist such a great challenge.

My selection of books for this one will solely be Christian fiction—will be updating the titles later. I'm also participating in the '999 Challenge' and with that, an overlapping of the same genre there as well (but I intend to keep these two separate). Here are the rules:

  1. Now, "Romance" isn't limited to steamy Harlequin novels. There is a huge selection of books in this category such as contemporary romance, historical romance, romantic suspense and paranormal romance to name a few. As long as the story has romantic love between the two main characters your selection will fit this challenge. The novels do not need to have a happy ending either, there can also be unrequited love.

  2. Choose at least 5 novels read them between Jan 1st though Dec 31st 2009. You can change your choices at any time. Crossovers between other challenges are fine.

  3. Read them at your own pace in 2009 then come here and post the link to your review(s).

  4. Link your "RRC" choices here with any of the graphics she provides here.
Very simple to participate and I hope you will join in the fun!

  6. Hi FloFlo, I sure hope all will turn out good. It's amusing how some people can say they're bored when there are so many things that one could do (and it's not just reading)...

My pleasure, Gautami, and thanks for playing! Those lines you included were interesting!

Thanks, Naida! I look forward to reading yours. I'm so excited about the 'Romance Reading Challenge' and happy to know you're part of the Swap too! *high five*

Hi Andrew, gosh it's not a surprise that I'm joining the challenges. Did you see the ones I joined this year and almost completed?... Don't worry, I know how to keep myself busy. I just don't understand how some people can claim themselves to be bored and don't know what to do... LOL.

Oh Nymeth... you're taunting me... LOL. I'll be a patient girl. :p

  10. Interesting five sentence from THE ALMOST MOON, Alice. Can't wait to read your review on this. And how fun that you are participating in the Book Bloggers Christmas Swap. I was going to do it, but then it too late now. Good luck with Christmas Swap - and I'm definitely sending you a card :)

And lastly, I know you and Melody are participating in the Romance Reading Challenge 2009. I haven't made up my mind yet if I want to participate. Is there deadline I need to worry about, before I decide to join?

  11. Thanks, Sheng! I wish you all the best in completing yours as well. :)

Hi Melody, I've seen this book in your random LibraryThing. I'm reading this in-between the read-together with Julia. :D

Hi Julia, I'm definitely sending something over to you as well. I really think the Romance Reading Challenge is your cup of tea, so do sign up. Please, please... I don't think there's a deadline to do so. It starts in Jan 2009 so you have plenty of time to decide. If you're doing this, maybe we could even pick the same book and do another read-together for this challenge. What do you think? :D
