TEASER TUESDAYS asks you to:
- Grab your current read.
- Let the book fall open to a random page.
- Share with us two (2) “teaser” sentences from that page, somewhere between lines 7 and 12.
- You also need to share the title of the book that you’re getting your “teaser” from … that way people can have some great book recommendations if they like the teaser you’ve given!
- Please avoid spoilers!
Here's page 137 of Empress Orchid by Anchee Min for you:
I have to remember to do this sometime today... Great teaser btw!
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, I'll hop over as soon as you've done it. *GRIN* Glad you like the teaser!
ReplyDeleteI'm intrigued. I'm looking forward to reading your review soon, Alice. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Melody! Empress Orchid is quite interesting. My only complaint is that the tone of the story is not Oriental enough. Lisa See does it best in her Peony in Love and Snow Flower and the Secret Fan.
ReplyDeleteAh...I haven't read anything by Lisa See yet, but I've Peony in Love in my pile though. I guess I'll have to read it to find out. ;)
ReplyDeleteMelody, can't wait to hear what you think when you're done with Peony. I cried so much, no, sobbed so much my mom thought I was sick or something. I couldn't even talk to explain to her what was wrong with me.
ReplyDeleteWow, that sounds like both a powerful and emotional book to me! That means I can't read this book in public... thanks for the warning. ;)
ReplyDeleteMelody, you're welcome... Better don't read it during your pregnancy as well... ;)
ReplyDeleteLOL.
ReplyDeleteI'm serious, Melody... This book is NOT to be read during that time. Depending on how traditional you are, there are spirit elements of afterlife and lots of pain and sufferings in that story... Listen to Alice ya... :)
