It is confirmed, dear friends, that I am officially addicted to coffee. How did I come to that conclusion? I had tea in the morning instead of coffee. By mid morning, I had a headache. I felt like my brains have been dislodged from my skull; it sure feels like they are two separate entities... Despite trying hard to focus my thoughts, my head just didn't want to cooperate. I decided to whack a cup of coffee during lunch and suddenly, the world seems to be working fine once again...
If that isn't caffeine addiction, I don't what is. Oh dear... Hmm... I read from a research that there will be withdrawal symptoms when one tries to reduce the intake of coffee. It goes on advising to persevere for at least two weeks and you will feel the difference and think much clearer. I'm not sure if I want to be nasty to my fellow colleagues for the next one week or so, but if I have to do it, I have to. A word of warning though, I was feeling a bit 'predatory' this morning without my dose of coffee.
I am proposing the following strategy for myself: Drink coffee in the morning (just to kickstart the day) and drink tea in the afternoon instead of more coffee. This should work...

You're right, Jen. Nothing beats the first cuppa in the morning. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the same here, Alice. I drink coffee first thing in the morning to ward off a caffeine headache, and then I can drink whatever I want. I guess there are worse things! :)
ReplyDeleteI can not do without drinking coffee in the morning. I got to have some before I start my days.
ReplyDeleteBut I tend to only drink coffee in the morning and not through the day unless I craving for them.
good luck with the withdrawal process. I'm a social coffee drinker myself, but my husband is not fun to be around in the morning until he has his coffee. At least it will wear off eventually. :-)
ReplyDeleteTotally agree, Jaimie!
ReplyDeleteI'll adopt your approach, Julia. My various tea flavours seem to be distracting me quite well throughout the day. :D
Hey Kim, I can relate to your hubby. Hehe... I'm a pain in the backside if I haven't had my dose.
