Alice goes shopping @ Kinokuniya KLCC

I need to go to KLCC this morning to pick up my new credit cards (renewal of expired ones). After that I went book shopping and acquired the following (do click on the book covers to check out readers reviews):

Penguin Threebies Special Offer: RM82.50 (RM27.50 each)

  1. Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything by Steven D. Levitt & Stephen J. Dubner
  2. Fooled by Randomness: The Hidden Role of Chance in Life and in the Markets by Nassim Nicholas Taleb
  3. Blink: The Power of Thinking without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell

I have always wanted to get my hands on the three books mentioned above (I'm pretty much still a big fan of non-fiction and business books), and today is my lucky day. I quickly grabbed a set. How often do you see all the books you want bundled together?

When I was at the KLIA airport for my Kota Kinabalu trip, I browsed at the airport bookstore but did not buy anything. The prices are always hiked up at least 20% over there. I found an interesting book that got me hooked and made a mental note to buy The Book Thief by Markus Zusak when I got home. There's a 25% discount (Kinokuniya's Gems of the Month) and I paid RM32.17 for it. Another good bargain, in my humble opinion.

Last but not least, Beowulf. No one knows who composed the original version of the classic epic, but I am going to give this one by Caitlin R. Kiernan, based on the screenplay by Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary, a try. For this one, there's a 20% discount and paid RM22.78.

Total damage of the day: RM137.45

P/S: Commuting on the LRT brought back memories. For once, I don't mind kids wailing or adults yakking loudly. I miss the train. I'm feeling nostalgic. I left my heart in KLCC...
