Update @ December 29, 2007: I've completed the challenge!

***

September 8, 2007: I saw the Reading the Author Challenge at alisonwonderland of So Many Books, So Little Time and decided to participate too. It is hosted by verbivore. The requirement is to read a minimum of three books by a single author between the beginning of September and the end of December. I have chosen the books by Nora Roberts:

THE IRISH TRILOGY

THREE SISTERS ISLAND TRILOGY

THE KEY TRILOGY

HAPPY READING!

  9. Nora Roberts seems to be the craze between you, Julia and Mel for ages long... is she that good? I am tempted to read her books...

  10. I don't know, Cmate. Read them to find out... She doesn't sound pretentious or OTT and is definitely imaginative. Christians may not agree with the values portrayed especially sex outside marriage, but like I said earlier, you don't have to embrace everything you read.

  11. Alice - out of the three trilogies, which one do you like the best? Is it "The Irish Trilogy", "The Three Sisters Island Trilogy" or "The Key Trilogy" ?

Out of the three, I think the Three Sisters Island is my favorite. But of course I enjoyed reading the other two :)

  12. Julia... why such a difficult question?... Haha

Anyway... I'm with you. Even though "The Key Trilogy" is very close, "The Three Sisters Island" gets the pick because what happened between Mia and Sam in the end really touched me.

BTW, I like the ending in the last book of "The Circle Trilogy", especially when the identity of the storyteller in epilogue is revealed. Actually, all of Nora's trilogies are great!

  13. I agree, what happen between Mia and Sam was sweet.

I really enjoy how Nora write her characters and make us love them :)

I have not read Circle Trilogy (as you already know *grin*) but they're in my TBR pile :)

It interesting to see which books you like more than the other, even though I agree with you that all Nora's books are great!

  14. You have vampires in your pile? YAY you Julia!!

You're right, it's effortless to connect with the characters. So easy. The tension, the love, loyalty, faith, etc. - beautiful storytelling. Great plot. Interesting angle. :D

  15. well...it written by Nora, you know? hehehe. And if it wasn't for the fact that it vamps, it weren't be sitting in my TBR pile for far too long LOL *hide away from Alice*

I agree with what you said about connection with characters :)

  16. Now, now... there's no need to hide, Julia. You're a brave girl and thanks to Nora, you have vampires in your TBR! :D

  17. LOL - but that does not mean I be reading more vamps LOL...I have read plenty and think it not my cup of tea hehehe

    ReplyDelete
  18. I only like vamps like Cian and Edward (Stephenie Meyer's Twilight)... You know, the nice ones... I think Cian might be your cup of tea. :D

  19. Of course Nora's main characters are suppose to be the "nice" one. Despite their bad boy attitude, if you get my meaning hehehe.

I trust Nora's writing her characters. Even if there some characters you hate strongly, it just only mean that Nora did great job of getting reader to "feel" the characters in that way IMO ;) :)
