Spring Reading Thing-Book Review: 101 Ways

Spring Reading Thing 2007

101 Ways to Find God’s Purpose for Your Life is a small but truly wonderful book. Do not underestimate it based on its size because every page is thought-provoking and insightful in providing the discovery of your strengths, finding spiritual direction and wisdom, expressing your gifts and talents in God’s service and many more. There are 101 ways in this little book!

What attracts me to 101 Ways besides its short text on each page (which makes it appealing to folks who have little time to read, but still wants to read something meaningful), is that it has accompanying quotes by famous or unknown people, including relevant Bible verses. This is great for contemplation and meditation. To take it a step further, at the end of each page, there is an action item that challenges us to reflect, examine or take action in line with what we have read. For example:

The Header: #37... Read Great Works

The Content: […] Through the centuries, great thinkers have left behind a legacy that can enlighten readers to great truths. […] Pick up a great work and peel back the truth on the pages one layer at a time; drink it in, and apply it to your life.

The Quote: A book is a garden, an orchard, a storehouse, a party, a company by the way, a counselor, a multitude of counselors. – Henry Ward Beecher

The Action Item: Pick up a copy of C.S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity or John Bunyan’s The Pilgrim’s Progress and read it.

For RM14.90, this book is a gem!
