BTT: 'Fess Up! (April 19, 2007)

Question(s) originated from here

Okay, there must be something you read that's a guilty pleasure . . . a Harlequin romance stashed under the mattress. A cheesy sci-fi book tucked in the back of the freezer. A celebrity biography, a phoned-in Western . . . something that you'd really rather not be spotted reading. Even just a novel if you're a die-hard non-fiction fan. Come on, confess. We won't hold it against you!

Guilty pleasure -- I like that phrase. LOL.

I once had a neighbour who lent me a stack of Barbara Cartland’s romance novels and I was about 16 at that time. She reckoned I could use some romance in my life and decided to ‘educate’ me. So... she whipped out a stack of Barbara Cartland (BC) goodies and unknowingly, I was sucked all the way into many lands of romance involving many heroes in the form of noblemen. At that point of time, I have no clue who BC was or her genre. However, when I soon discovered what that was and how some parts can be rather erotic, I ‘hid’ them all and read discreetly. And guess what? My mom found out and I had to return them all to my neighbour... (I managed to enjoy most of what she lent me though. Haha!)

Book Quote:

"A book is a friend; a good book is a good friend. It will talk to you when you want it to talk, and it will keep still when you want it to keep still; and there are not many friends who know enough to do that." — B. A. Billingsly
